About acne and rosacea

What is acne?

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions. It occurs when pilosebaceous follicles become blocked and inflamed, causing spots, blackheads and inflammatory lesions — mainly on the face, back and chest. It mainly affects teenagers but is also common in adults.

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition mainly affecting the central face — cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. It flares intermittently and is more common in fair, sensitive skin, with persistent redness, visible vessels and flushing episodes.

Common signs

In acne: comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), papules and pustules, oily skin and, in persistent cases, nodules and scars. In rosacea: persistent redness or flushing, small visible vessels, papules and burning or reactive skin — often triggered by sun, heat, alcohol or spicy food.

How we can help

Send photographs of affected areas and complete the clinical questionnaire. A dermatologist distinguishes the picture — acne, rosacea or overlap — and defines a personalised treatment plan with post-consultation follow-up.

Which consultation is right for me?

Both start with a clinical questionnaire and 3 photographs, without waiting months for an appointment. What differs is how the dermatologist responds.

When you cannot wait or fix a time

Flexible consultation

In writing, no appointment

Choose this if…

  • you cannot guarantee you will be free at a set time;
  • you want to submit your case today, even at night;
  • you prefer to explain your case in writing, at your pace, rather than on a call.

If photographs lack detail, the dermatologist will request another via patient-area messages before responding.

When you want to see and hear the doctor

Booked consultation

By video, on the day and time you choose

Choose this if…

  • you want to ask questions and hear answers in real time;
  • you trust a treatment more when you see and hear the doctor who recommends it;
  • you prefer to decide treatment in conversation, not by reading a report.

What it adds is live time: the dermatologist reviews your photographs before the call, so the consultation is for your questions. Afterwards you receive the same written report as the Flexible consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about online dermatology consultations

Complete a medical questionnaire and send 3 photos of your skin concern. A dermatologist reviews your case and sends a detailed clinical report within the timeframe of the plan you choose. If clinically justified, the report includes an electronic prescription.

For most skin concerns, assessment via photographs and a clinical questionnaire allows the dermatologist to define a treatment plan. Some situations, such as assessing moles (nevi), may require in-person observation or further tests such as dermoscopy. In that case, the dermatologist will state this in the report and recommend an in-person consultation.

Online dermatology consultations start at 60€. This includes assessment by a dermatologist, the medical report and a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Yes. When the dermatologist issues a prescription, it is an electronic prescription through Portugal’s national Receita Sem Papel system, accepted at any pharmacy in Portugal.
